Rosalie & Alva Dance Theater - History
Growing up in the Rosalie & Alva Theater, built in 1952 by his parents,
Matt Lincir has always been an avid fan of good music and talented musicians.
Imagining what it would be like to host high-level, live music performances,
Matt set out to create a venue that would attract the best players.
With the installation of high-level, cutting-edge sound and music equipment,
those top players started to pour in.
The Pianos
When Matt decided he wanted a piano for his growing venue, he knew he did not want just any piano.
Providing a special experience for Alvas Showroom's artists and patrons alike has always been important to him.
After finding a 1921 Steinway B Grand Piano, Matt sought out the best technician he could find to restore its condition to new and to regulate the action of its ivory keys.
The great Hollis Erdgmann was up for the task. The sound of the Alvas Showroom's
Steinway B is superb and the piano's feel is both modern in its technical performance and classic in its character, carrying a legacy from its
history that pianists can intuitively sense when they sit down to perform.
Matt recently purchased a 1985 Steinway C Grand Piano (one of the last Steinway pianos with ivory keys).
